Widget Guide

Add the widget

Today's verse on your Home Screen. Your reading streak on your Lock Screen. About a minute each, with a picture for every step.

Nothing here is permanent. To take a widget off later, press and hold it and choose Remove Widget.

Put the daily verse on your Home Screen

Start on your Home Screen, where your app icons are.

  1. Press and hold an empty spot

    Press your finger on a part of the screen with no icon on it, until the icons wiggle. Lift your finger.

    Wiggling icons are normal.

  2. Tap “Edit”, then “Add Widget”

    Tap Edit in the top-left corner, then tap Add Widget.

  3. Search for Wisdom

    Type Wisdom in the search box at the top, then tap Solomon's Wisdom in the list.

  4. Pick a size and add it

    Swipe left or right across the preview to pick a size, then tap the blue + Add Widget button.

    The wider size fits more of the verse. You can change it later.

  5. Tap “Done”

    Tap Done in the top-right corner.

    Tap the widget any time and today's chapter opens.

Put your streak on your Lock Screen

The Lock Screen is the one with the big clock, the first thing you see when you pick up your phone.

  1. Unlock your phone, then press and hold the clock

    Unlock your phone with your face or passcode, but don't open an app. Stay on the screen with the clock.

    Press and hold the clock until Customize appears at the bottom.

    Nothing happening? Your phone is still locked. Look at it, then hold again.

  2. Tap “Customize”, then “Lock Screen”

    Tap Customize, then tap the picture on the left, labelled Lock Screen.

  3. Tap the row under the clock, then add the circle

    Tap the box under the clock that says ADD WIDGETS. Scroll the list of apps down to Wisdom.

  4. Tap Wisdom, then tap the circle

    Tap Wisdom, then tap the Streak circle once to drop it onto your Lock Screen.

    A slim one-line version sits above the clock instead, if you prefer.

  5. Close the list and tap “Done”

    Close the list with the X, tap Done, then tap the wallpaper.

    The circle dims through the day until you read your chapter, then turns gold.

If it didn't work

Two things to check, then write to us.

  • Check your iPhone software. These widgets need iOS 18 or newer. Open Settings › General › Software Update.
  • Open Solomon's Wisdom at least once. A widget shows nothing until you've opened the app on that phone.
